Minnie Towel, Sandwich Cutter and Halloween Stickers Unboxing

What are your must have meals in Walt Disney World?

I haven’t come close to trying everything at Disney World or have even gone to all the resorts to see what they offer, but here is a list of some of my FAVORITE foods that I can’t miss out on when I go to Disney World.

1. Fantasyland: Pinocchio Village Haus – BBQ Chicken Pizza.

I went to this restaurant to get their chicken nuggets one day and they were advertising this pizza. I love a good BBQ Chicken Pizza back home so I had to try this. It was the best I’ve had and I have to have it every time I go back.

2. Blizzard Beach: Giant Doughnut with an Iced Coffee

I just got back from Blizzard Beach not that long ago. It was my first time there. I got up early in the morning to head to the water park so I could have lots of time to ride the water slides, but this meant I was super hungry when I got to the park. I found a cute little hut selling these GIANT doughnuts. This was the best doughnut I’ve had in my entire life. They also had the best Iced Coffee. Believe it or not, I would go here to get my breakfast before going to another park.

 3. Frontierland: Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Café – Barbecued Pork Sandwich

Looking for a frontier sandwich? Make your way over to Frontierland and get this sandwich. You must!

4. Fantasyland: Friar’s Nook - Bacon Cheeseburger Macaroni & Cheese

Mmmmmm… gourmet Macaroni & Cheese. This totally hit the spot. I’m looking forward to getting this again when I go back.

5. Adventureland: Aloha Isle – Dole Whip

Ok, I just recently had my first Dole Whip…. Words can’t even describe how wonderful it was. Warning: once you go Dole Whip, it will change your life. 6. Liberty Square: Columbia Harbour House: Battered Fish Plate I’ve had Fish and Chips at a couple places in Disney and this is by far the best place to get Fish and Chips. It’s delicious and the atmosphere is really nice.

7. Liberty Square: Sleepy Hollow – Sweet and Spicy Chicken w/waffle

I was pretty skeptical when I first got this dish because I had no idea how these two items would go together. The first taste was so good and you get a lot of food with this one. The sauce that they put on this sandwich really makes it pop!

8. Pop Century Resort: Turkey Sandwich (Oven-roasted Turkey, Mashed Potatoes, Cornbread Stuffing, Cranberry Mayonnaise, and Watercress on Texas Toast)

I was looking for a little bit of thanksgiving during the non-thanksgiving season and this sounded perfect to me. This sandwich is just like the day after thanksgiving! It’s a cold sandwich but it’s incredible.

 9. Typhoon Lagoon: Leaning Palms: Island Burger (Monterey Jack Cheese, BBQ Pork and Pineapple)

I was looking for a sandwich that was pretty weird and would get me in the mood of the park so I ordered this sandwich. The best part of this sandwich is the pineapple with all the other ingredients. It ended up not being too weird, but very yummy.

 10. Epcot (Holiday’s Around The World) Savory Seasonal Waffle – Turkey Waffle with Stuffing Batter, Gravy, and Cranberry Relish.

This was a special sandwich for the holidays. I was at the park around thanksgiving and what could be better than thanksgiving dinner in waffle form? I have been craving this sandwich ever since I’ve had it and that was years ago. Best sandwich ever!!

How Would You Feel If Rides Were Fastpass Only?

What Was Walt Disney's Early Life Really Like? (As Dreamers Do)

Jared Morris (webmaster) interviews Logan Sekulow crerator of the Walt Disney biographical film "As Dreamers Do" for his Delaware Talk Radio Show - Check out more about the film on it's official Web site www.waltmovie.com - The unofficial retelling of Walt's Early Life... #OswaldTheLuckyRabbit

How Do You Feel About Rides Being Fastpass Only?

How Do You Feel About Rides Being Fastpass Only?

Disney’s FastPass is a big topic of discussion in our house. We typically go to Disney a few times every year so we talk about FastPasses a lot. I was very skeptical and a little scared when they announced the changes to FastPass a while back. I loved the machines where you could just pop in your park ticket and it spit out that paper ticket telling you when to come back. It was easy, it worked and it was basically unlimited.

Disney started testing the magic bands in 2013 and finally they changed the way we use FastPass. Gone were the days of the paper tickets. It was determined that the magic bands would hold only 3 FastPasses per day. This frustrated us because we use a ton of FastPasses when we go. Luckily, they did change that later to 3 FastPasses and then you could add extra after those were used. This was still kind of a pain because you couldn’t add them from the ride or the app, but from a kiosk in the park which you had to find or ask a cast member where it was. At least these extra FastPasses eased me a little, but not completely. I could still see the problems with this system, which for me is pretty big. When you reach the “60 days to your vacation” point, (if you book a resort hotel stay and purchase tickets) you can start to lock in your FastPasses for your vacation online. If you only purchase tickets you can lock in your FastPasses 30 days before your arrival. The problem? Well, some of the times aren’t available because everyone who has reached the 60 day point or closer has booked that time.

Today, I read that Disney would start a new test in Hollywood Studios. They are going to make Toy Story Mania a FastPass only ride for a short amount of time. I’m not really sure what Disney hopes to accomplish in this test unless they are looking to make all the rides a reservation only. Since the new FastPass has been under way, we have experienced longer wait times in the FastPass line making it not so fast after all. During our last trip to Disney we found the stand by line shorter than the FastPass line and we ended up just skipping our FastPass and using the stand by instead. I do understand that Toy Story Mania has one of the biggest/longest lines in the parks. I’ve only been on that ride twice in the 10+ years I’ve been to Disney World. I do hope that Disney doesn’t make some of these rides reservation only because there are still things we have yet to take part in because we haven’t been able to lock in a FastPass online. I would also miss playing with the bee’s in the standby line of the Winnie the Pooh ride. Just remember, book early and as soon as possible and we’ll all have fun together.

Frozen is taking over the Maelstrom... And That's Okay.

What Disney Ride Do You Miss That No Longer Exists?

Yesterday was the end of one of my favorite voyages. Disney’s Maelstrom is now just a figment of my imagination.

Maelstrom opened in 1988. It was a boat ride in the Norway pavilion in the Epcot showcase. Riders glided through the water in Viking ships and were transported back in time to Norway’s Viking times to learn about the History of Norway. The ride ended and you were taken into a theater where a 6 minute video played about Norway. I now regret skipping this video most of the time I went. I never thought there would be a day that I would never get to see it again. I can still remember the first time I went on this ride. Knowing this ride was one of my husband’s favorites, I couldn’t wait to hop in the boat and see what all the hype was about. There were dark caverns, scary voices promising peril and adventure if you seek the spirit of Norway, trees, a talking troll with glowing yellow eyes who makes you disappear and then “back back over the falls.” What a magical journey!

I heard the reports come in months ago but I honestly didn’t believe it. They really wouldn’t get rid of my favorite ride, would they? Not a ride with so much history. This ride is 26 years old! The final decision came about a month ago. I had a weekend off coming up and I almost booked the Disney World trip so I could say goodbye in person.  A few days before, I decided it was best to just keep the happy memories.  Today I saw videos online of the Viking ships being hauled down the freeway and it really hit home. I’m not just saying good-bye to this ride, but to Norway. This pavilion might honestly be my favorite in the Epcot Showcase.

So, move on over Maelstrom! Looking to the future, I’m put at ease a little with the prospect of a NEW ride taking the place of Maelstrom. Now, first things first, nothing can ever REPLACE Maelstrom, but at least Norway won’t be left with a gaping hole.  I have to be excited over Epcot bringing in new/replacement rides. I’ve seen many videos of rides that used to be in Epcot that are no more. The new Frozen ride is supposed to open in 2016.  I’m not a frozen junkie. Really, I’m not. Yeah, I own it. I’ve seen it more than twice.  I did go to the frozen sing-along in the theater. I do own Sven and Olaf, and I do have the soundtrack. That’s not that bad, right? I mean, what exactly makes a “frozen” junkie? I did squeal a little when Elsa and Anna showed up on Once Upon a Time but c’mon, how cool was that? I’ve seen a lot of reports of people upset about Frozen taking over everything. Most of that is another whole blog post. When the Frozen ride launches, I know you’re going to like it.  It will be sprinkled with that Disney Magic we all love. You’re going to stand in line missing the Maelstrom and saying to yourself “I can’t believe they changed this classic ride to Frozen” and you’ll be upset that non-Disney fans are standing in line to ride it just because it’s “Frozen”, but I can almost guarantee that when that ride ends, you will want to get in line again and you’ll be thinking about it for hours or days after. Because that’s what Disney does!
